Stephen Richard Polascak, 91, of Cambridge passed away Monday (June 15, 2009) at Riverside Medical Center. He was born January 16, 1918 in Kipling, son of the late John and Mary (Kundrat) Polascak. Steve was retired from Columbia Gas after 32 years of service. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and music, especially the accordion and played with several local bands. His faith was in Jesus. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a life member of Kipling VFW #7371, a life member of Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, and Eagles Aerie #386. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, John, Joe, and George; six sisters, Mary Frencik, Ann Grisak, and Kate Morgan, Margaret Smith, Vera Polascak and Evelyn Hoey. He is survived by his wife Mary Martha (Fogle) Polascak whom he married March 24, 1945; one son, Donald (Donna) Polascak of Columbus; one sister, Elizabeth Lake of Canton; one grandson, Jason Polascak and fiancé Chantel of Dublin; two great granddaughters, Kaylee & Bella. Calling hours will be Wednesday 7-9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be Thursday 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Don Glass officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cambridge.
