Steve H. Adamik Jr., 60, of Cambridge, died suddenly at the emergency room of Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center after suffering a heart attack at his home. He had been treated for heart problems for years. He was born August 7, 1949 in Walhonding, son of the late Steve Adamik Sr. and Esther (Rauscher) Adamik. He was at 1969 graduate of Meadowbrook High School. Mr. Adamik retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, where he had been a therapeutic program worker for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and riding motorcycles. He loved being a father. Mr. Adamik was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, David Adamik. He is survived by his wife, Kathy (Stantz) Adamik, whom he married August 11, 1990; two daughters, Heather Adamik of Cambridge and Katrina Adamik of the home; a step-son, Shane Harvey of Newcomerstown; two sisters, Diann West of Sarasota FL and Nancy (& Russ) Hill of Senecaville; two brothers, Jerry Adamik of Senecaville and Larry Adamik of Freeport; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and his close friends, Blaine Barr and Delbert LaMont. The family has chosen cremation to take place. Family and friends may call on Monday (August 2, 2010) from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a memorial service will follow at 7 p.m. Military services will be held at the funeral home following the memorial service.
