Ted L. Barnes, 83, of Cambridge, died Wednesday (April 18, 2012) at his home. He was born January 24, 1929 in Byesville, son of the late George Barnes and Sarah (Wakeley) Barnes. Mr. Barnes retired in January of 1991 from Branthoover & Johnson. He was a member of the Local Plumbers & Pipefitters Union. He was a member of the American Legion. Mr. Barnes was a US Marines veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a perfectionist about his yard. Mr. Barnes was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Headley) Barnes of the home, whom he married August 14, 1948; a son, Wayne (& Diane) Barnes of Old Washington; a daughter, Cheryl (& Timothy) Todd of Cambridge; a sister, Clara "Sis" Williams of Byesville; two grandchildren, Aaron (& Bridget) Todd of Cambridge and Amy (& Justin) Warner of Delaware; three great-grandchildren, Evy Todd, Evan Todd, and Alice Warner; and many nieces & nephews. Family and friends may call on Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Saturday (April 21, 2012) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sturman Moore and Pastor Mark Slay officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in Ted's name to one of the following organizations: 1) Christ United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2167 North Avenue, Cambridge OH 43275; or 2) Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
