Thelma L. Gray

Thelma L. Gray, 98, of Cambridge, died Sunday (December 26, 2010) at the Beckett House at New Concord. She was born January 31, 1912 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Herbert Grubbs and Ada (Moore) Grubbs. Mrs. Gray retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, where she had worked for thirty-five years as an LPN. She was caring & giving to everyone she met. She was a former member of the Eagles Auxiliary of Cambridge. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gray, who died in 1962; two sons, Robert "Bob" Gray and James "Jim" Gray; a daughter, Mary Bell "Boots" Kuhn; two brothers, Albert "Abe" Grubbs and Edward Grubbs; and a sister, Roberta "Bert" Esmont. She is survived by three sons, William "Bill" Gray of Cambridge, Larry (& Nancy) Gray of Cumberland, and Jack Gray of Cambridge; a son-in-law, Thomas Kuhn of New Concord; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Gray of Crystal Lake IL; sixteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Wednesday (December 29, 2010) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Steven Sullivan officiating. Burial will be at Pleasant City Cemetery.
