Theodore Vernon Thompson Sr., 79, formerly of Byesville, died Monday (January 29, 2007) at Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center, Cambridge. He was born May 28, 1927 in Cambridge, son of the late Harvey Thompson and Hazel (Hanlon) Thompson. Mr. Thompson retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, where he had been a ward attendant. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara (Van Dyne) Thompson, who died in 1984; and two sisters, Beatrice Thompson and Freda Thompson. He leaves two sons, Theodore Vernon Thompson Jr. of Cambridge and Thomas J. Thompson of Cambridge; two daughters, Roseann (& Kenneth) Hickman of Cambridge and Mary Lou Thompson of Cambridge; a brother, Paul Thompson of Grove City; thirteen grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Graveside services will be held on Thursday (February 1, 2007) at 11 a.m. at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
