Theresa M. Buttress

Theresa M. Buttress, 101, of Cambridge, died Friday (February 9, 2018) at Cambridge Health & Rehabilitation Center. Mrs. Buttress was born December 8, 1916 in Buckeyeville, daughter of the late Scander Ferris and Yasmine (George) Ferris. Mrs. Buttress was the owner & operator of Buttress Grocery. She had been a cosmetologist and then later worked at NCR. She was active with the League of Women Voters and had been very active with the PTA in her earlier years. Mrs. Buttress was a member of Christ Our Light Parish. She was a member of the Catholic Women's Club and Catholic Daughters. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Neausrie J. Buttress, who died October 18, 1969. They were married August 2, 1952 at St. Benedict Catholic Church. Also deceased is a sister, Marie Ferris. She is survived by a son, Joachim "Joe" Buttress of Cambridge; a daughter, Christine Buttress (& Lee Czerwonka) of Blue Ash; and a granddaughter, Maria Czerwonka. Visitation will be held Sunday (February 11, 2018) from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be held Monday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday (February 12, 2018) at 11 a.m. at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Cambridge, with Father Paul Hrezo officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: 1) St. Benedict School, 220 N 7 ^th St, Cambridge OH 43725; or 2) St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
