Thomas C. Chappelear

Thomas C. Chappelear, 74, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (August 11, 2020) at his home.

He was born March 1, 1946 in Cambridge, son of the late Albert S. Chappelear II and Alice (Clark) Chappelear.

Mr. Chappelear was a graduate of Cambridge High School, earned his Bachelor's degree from West Liberty State College, and earned his Master's degree from Xavier.  He retired after thirty years at Cambridge High School, where he had been a teacher.  He also served as the head football coach for four years.  He was a member of the Athletic Hall of Fame.

Mr. Chappelear also worked for fifteen years as a courier for Southeastern Med.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge 448 and the Moose Lodge 631.

Mr. Chappelear was a member of Christ Our Light Parish.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Jean; and a brother, Albert.

He is survived by his wife, Connie (Baker) Chappelear, whom he married April 6, 1968; a son, T.C. (Paula) Chappelear of Wheeling WV; a daughter, Diane (Bob) Burch of Cambridge; four grandsons, Thomas Chappelear, Joseph Chappelear, Michael Chappelear, and David Burch; a sister-in-law, Virginia Chappelear of Venice FL; and several nieces & nephews.

Graveside services & burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday (August 14, 2020) at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with Father Paul Hrezo officiating. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Cambridge Athletic Department, 1401 Deerpath Drive, Cambridge OH 43725.
