Thomas Albert Clayton, 75, of Barnesville and formerly of Byesville, died Tuesday (May 1, 2007) at The Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, Columbus. He was born on March 25, 1932 in Byesville, son of the late Albert Clayton and Mary Jane (McFarlane) Clayton. Mr. Clayton retired form the Ohio Department of Taxation. He was a 1950 graduate of Byesville High School and attended the Ohio University. Mr. Clayton was a member of the Assumption Catholic Church of Barnesville. He was a Master Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite and a member of the Shrine. Mr. Clayton was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during the Korean War era. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Jean Clayton Anderson; and his first wife, Marilyn Sue McGaughy Clayton, who died in 1967. He leaves his wife, Ann Gill Clayton of the home, whom he married on July 14, 1973; a daughter, Kathryn Ann Clayton of Columbus; two brothers-in-law, Jeff Anderson of Byesville and Robert McGaughy of Byesville; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sandy (Bill) Black Jr. of Senecaville and their family; a niece, Carmen Anderson of Byesville; several cousins; and close friends & neighbors, Chris and Lynda Keylor and their children, Chelsey and Zachary, of Barnesville. Family and friends may call on Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Black-Epperson Funeral Home, Byesville. Visitation will also be held on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church of Barnesville and on Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. Mass of Resurrection will be held on Saturday (May 5, 2007) at 10 a.m. at the Assumption Catholic Church of Barnesville with Father Virgil Reischman officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Byesville.
