Thomas Kenneth Scanlon

December 19, 1932 — June 18, 2018

Thomas Kenneth Scanlon, 85, of Cambridge, died Monday (June 18, 2018) at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.

He was born December 19, 1932 in Cambridge, son of the late Goldie Mae (Gray) Scanlon.

Mr. Scanlon was a carpenter and a millwright.

He attended Christ Our Light Parish of Cambridge.

He was a member of the Cambridge Eagles Aerie 386.

He loved playing the banjo and played in several bands, including the Rube Band of McConnelsville. He was a member of the American Music Guild. Mr. Scanlon was a US Army veteran, having served during the Korean War. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Martin, Frank, and Msgr. Matthew Scanlon; and two sisters, Nettie Kane and Betty Dix.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Eloise (Porter) Scanlon, whom he married January 21, 1956; a son, Thomas Scanlon of Cambridge; a daughter, Vicki (& Hal) Kain of Milwaukee WI; two grandchildren, Alex Kain of Milwaukee WI and Andrew (& Aja) Kain of Milwaukee WI; a great-grandchild, Greyson Thomas Kain; and many nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be held Thursday (June 21, 2018) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Friday (June 22, 2018) at 11 a.m. with Father Robert Borer officiating.

Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
