Thomas J. "Tom" White, 84, of Cambridge passed away Monday (September 19, 2011) at his home. He was born March 14, 1927 in Canton and was the son of the late Thomas E. and Thelma Faye (Tilton) White. Mr. White was retired from Ohio Valley Dairy and the Guernsey County Family Services where he was a fraud investigator; he was also a former Auctioneer. He was a member of First Christian Church in Cambridge where he was an Elder Emeritus, a fifty year member of Cambridge Masonic Lodge F&AM #66, lifetime member of Cambridge VFW #2901, a member of Guernsey County Civil War Round Table, former member of the Salvation Army Advisory Board of Cambridge and a 1945 graduate of Cambridge High School. He also attended Ohio University and was a Navy veteran of WWII. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother Paul and a sister, Anna Faye White. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Eva Lou (Roth) White, whom he married August 24, 1947; one son, David A. (Marilyn) White of Cambridge; three grandchildren, Thomas J. "T.J." (Kayla King) White of Cambridge, Matt (Linda) Mackie of Monticello, Minn., and Jason (Jennifer) Mackie of Sarahsville; four great grandchildren, Sydney, Kendall and Carter Mackie, and Colten White; sister in-law, Linda White of Goshen, IN.; several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge where services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Rev. David Brown officiating. Masonic services will be Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery with military services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Guernsey, P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge Ohio or First Christian Church, 1127 Beatty Ave., Cambridge, Ohio.
