Vaughn E. "Pete" Coleman, 89, of Cambridge, died Friday (Jan. 29, 2016) at Cambridge Health and Rehab Center. He was born April 27, 1926, in Cambridge, son of the late James Earl and Pearl Edith (Reeves) Coleman. Pete retired from the railroad where he worked as a conductor. He was a member of the Eagles, American Legion and a life member of the VFW, all of Cambridge. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Navy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Ethan Badenhorst. Pete is survived by his wife, Ruth E. (Heddleson) Coleman; a son, Dale E. Coleman of Cambridge; a daughter, Kay (Daniel J.) Robin of Cambridge; a brother, Lewis (Ellouise) Coleman of New Concord; grandchildren, Rhonda (John) Boyd of Cambridge and Jheri (David) Scott of Plant City, Fla.; great-grandchildren, Jordan, Mollie and Luke Badenhorst, Ethan and Evan Scott, Emma (Lantz) Patterson, Brittney (Shawn) Boyd, Dalton Boyd and J.T. (Laree) Boyd; and great-great-grandchildren, Zane Boyd and Isabelle and Trinity Patterson. Visitation will be Monday (February 1, 2016) from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with Pastor Mark Slay officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council at the funeral home immediately following service. Burial will follow in Guernsey Memory Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to the Guernsey County Veterans Council Honor Guard, PO Box 572, Cambridge OH 43725.
