Velva Jean Moffett, 81, of Cambridge, died Monday (September 9, 2013) at Genesis-Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville. She was born May 12, 1932 in Chauncey, daughter of the late James Barrowman and Leota (Tucker) Barrowman. She was the oldest living blue baby. Mrs. Moffett was a homemaker. She dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren. She was a 1950 graduate of Cambridge High School. She was Baptist by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas W. Moffett, who died July 8, 2012. They were married on November 17, 1950. Also deceased is a sister, Ruth Garrett, and a brother, James Barrowman. She is survived by three sons, Tom W. Moffett of Cambridge, Timothy Moffett of Amherst VA, and Jamiel D. Moffett of Cambridge; three daughters, Cathryn King of New Concord, Kelley Moffett of Cambridge, and Jennifer (& Joseph) Hogue of Norwich; two brothers, Charles (& Kathryn) Barrowman of Columbus and John Barrowman of Florida; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren. Family and friends may call on Friday (September 13, 2013) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. Charles Simpson officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
