Verna "Jerry" Geraldine Hughey

Verna Geraldine "Jerry" Hughey died Nov. 15, 2013, in Canby, Ore., at the age of 97. She was born Oct. 24, 1916, in Cambridge, to Fred George and Clara Belle Fletcher Keiser. On Feb. 24, 1938, she married Ray E. Hughey Sr. He died in May 1991. Mrs. Hughey was a homemaker and worked part-time in the women's department at the local JC Penney store. She moved to Oregon in 2003 and to Countryside Living in Canby in 2012. She was a member of the Cambridge First United Methodist Church. She enjoyed John Wayne and Elvis Presley movies, Ohio State University sports and shopping and going places with her sister. Her favorite experiences included her daughter taking her to Hawaii and to Las Vegas to see Elvis perform. Survivors include her son, Ray Jr., of Wilsonville, Ore.; daughter, Sandi Pesak, of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Her sister, Margaret Starr; and brother, Marion Keiser, preceded her in death. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday (November 22, 2013) in Northwood Mausolem Chapel. Friends will be received from noon until time of service at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.
