Verna K. (Jirles) Severn

Verna K. (Jirles) Severn, 76, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (March 19, 2019) at the Morrison House, Zanesville.

She was born September 6, 1942 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Roger P. Jirles and Mary L. (Howell) Jirles.

A 1960 graduate of Cambridge High School, Mrs. Severn had worked at NCR for twenty-six years. She had also worked for nineteen years at the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center as a home health aide.

She enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers, music, and cooking.

Mrs. Severn was Presbyterian by faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant brother, Roger Wayne Jirles; her father-in-law, Forest J. Severn; and a brother-in-law, Gary L. Severn.

She is survived by her husband, Randy R. Severn, whom she married August 1, 1971; two sons, Randy L. Severn (& Jill Erwin) of Zanesville and Roger L. Severn of Marysville; two brothers, Phillip (& Sherry) Jirles of New Concord and Ed (& Pauline) Jirles of Cambridge; a sister, Joann Jirles of Cambridge; two grandchildren, Austin and Kaden; her mother-in-law, Margaret Jacoby-Severn of Minerva; and a brother-in-law, Denny L. Severn of Malvern.

Visitation will be held Thursday (March 21, 2019) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Friday (March 22, 2019) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Lester Bell officiating.

Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
