Vernita L. Strahl, 91, of Kimbolton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday (January 12, 2015). She was born June 7, 1923 in Guernsey County, daughter of the late Charles Baker and Teresa (Leeper) Baker. Mrs. Strahl was a lineworker at RCA and March Electric for thirty-five years. She loved to watch her grandchildren play sports. She also enjoyed going to Salt Fork State Park to watch the deer. In her younger years, she loved to travel. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her family. She was a member of North Salem Community Church. Mrs. Strahl performed jail ministry for sixteen years at the Guernsey County Jail. The love of her missionary work sent her to Haiti three times. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Orland Stocker in 1987; her second husband, William L. Strahl Sr. in 2011; four brothers; and four sisters. She is survived by two sons, Richard (& Frances) Stocker of Kimbolton and Ed (& Lisha) Stocker of Cambridge; two daughters, Patricia Patterson of Kimbolton and Susan (& Jack) Melchiori of Kimbolton; eleven grandchildren, Allen (& Karen) Stocker, Jan (& Timothy) Sandlin, Teresa (& Jerry) Cowden, Paul (& Debra) Patterson, Brian Johnson (& Chris Showalter), Michael Patterson (& Beth Morgan), Shelly (& Tracy) Saft, Lynsey Stocker, Morgan Stocker, Hallie Stocker, and Gage Stocker; thirteen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Thursday (January 15, 2015) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Paul Gerycz officiating. Burial will be at North Salem Community Church Cemetery.
