Virgil L. Foraker, 92, of Cambridge , died Friday (Dec. 27, 2013) at Southeastern Med, Cambridge. He was born Oct. 10, 1921, in Salesville, son of the late Aultman E. and Della (Britton) Foraker. Mr. Foraker retired from Champion Spark Plug, after 30 years as a kiln fireman. He was the leader of the Foraker Family and Friends Band and was also a member of the Guernsey Senior Citizens Band. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Geraldine (Bichard) Foraker; three brothers, James, Victor and Vernon Foraker; five sisters, Marie Sparks, Mary Thornberry, Lucillle Shuman, Hazel Glazer and Helen Tilton, and two grandchildren. He is survived by three sons, Gordon (Linda) Foraker of Columbus, Curtis (Angie) Foraker and Dana Foraker, both of Cambridge; a daughter, Anita (Greg) Conrad of Cambridge; a sister, Irma Ankrum of Warsaw; 15 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. Visitation and services will be Monday, Dec. 30, from 11 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, with Pastor Sturman Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Guernsey Memory Gardens Cemetery. Military graveside honors will be provided by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
