Virginia Maxine Hickman, 82, of Winterset, died Thursday (August 16, 2018) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.
She was born July 18, 1936 in Winterset, daughter of the late Raymond A. Spear and Irene (Headly) Spear.
A 1954 graduate of Wheeling High School, Mrs. Hickman retired from the former Cambridge State Hospital, where she had worked as a personnel officer.
She was a member of the Old Washington Presbyterian Church and the Adair Bible Class.
Mrs. Hickman was past Royal Matron of the Order of the Amaranth.
She was a wonderful cook and loved spending time with her family and with her Yorkshire terriers.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Lawrence Russel Spear; a brother, Raymond A. Spear Jr.; a sister, Alice Spear; and a son-in-law, Chris Postlewaite.
She is survived by her loving husband of fifty-one years, Lee Hickman, whom she married December 14, 1966; a daughter, Gretchen Lee Postlewaite of Winterset; three stepsons, Grant (& Tammi) Hickman, John Mark (& Kim) Hickman, and Cecil Lee Hickman; a stepdaughter, Carol Sue Hickman; two grandchildren, Alexis Hickman and Eden Postlewaite; three step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held Monday (August 20, 2018) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with Pastor Wes Jones officiating.
Burial will be at Glenview Cemetery, Winterset.
