Virginia M Wilson

February 10, 1943 — January 10, 2025

Cambridge

Virginia M. "Ginny" Wilson, 81, an amazing example of strength, kindness, and generosity, passed away on January 10th, 2025, at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical, surrounded by her loving family.  Virginia battled heart and many other major health issues for most of her adult life, and did so with courage, tenacity, and positivity.

Born on February 10th,1943, in Lockborne, OH to the late Finley and Bertha (Anderson) Nickell, Ginny was known for her warmth, generosity, and the undeniably loving spirit she brought into the world.

Virginia, who graduated from New Concord High School in 1961, worked for March Electric for many years.  She was a member of the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center, Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles and Moose Lodges, where she held various offices and achieved the highest degree of recognition at the Moose. Virginia enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, crafting, bingo, and volunteering, was an avid Buckeye fan, and loved animals of all types. Despite her health challenges, Virginia lived life to the fullest. When asked if she should be participating in an activity, be it white water rafting, riding roller coasters, or parasailing her answer was always "why go through all of this if I can't enjoy life?".  Her legacy is one of unyielding kindness and generosity, she was a friend to all and stranger to none who always placed others ahead of herself.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers Edgar Nickell and Bill Nickell, and sisters Betty Imogene Roberts, Mary Francis Hickman, and Carolyn Sykes. Left to cherish Ginny's memory are her husband of 62 years, Donald, children, Lori Wilson Merritt (Terry Andrews) of Nashport, her son Don Wilson (Robin) of Millersport, three grandchildren  Lauren Wilson (fiancé John Hurt), Griffin Wilson, and Landyn Andrews, sisters Esther (Jim) Lecrone of Castlerock, CO, Sharon (Rick) Ploughe of Raleigh, NC, brother Lennel Nickell of Strawberry Plains, TN, and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved deeply.
