Vivian I. Van Horn, 88, formerly of Cambridge, died Monday (June 15, 2009). She was born and raised in California, daughter of the late Robert H. and Nellie M. Kempley. In 1946, she married Charles M. Van Horn, who started his banking career in Cambridge at the former First National Bank of Cambridge. Mrs. Van Horn was a U.S. Navy W.A.V.E.S. veteran, having served during WWII. She received special training in the Naval Communication Intelligence Organization as a radio intercept operator. Mrs. Van Horn retired from Oxford University Press of Fair Lawn, where she had been a credit correspondent for many years. She was very active in her community with their church activities, welcome wagon, bridge groups and women's guild. She is the beloved mother of Patricia (& Donald) Wright, Jim (& Mary) Van Horn and Barbara Telynor; loving grandmother of Tina (& Kenneth) Brand, Terri Van Horn, Greg Van Horn, Rob Van Horn and Laura Van Horn. Services were held at the Richards Funeral Home in West Milford NJ.
