Walter R. "Walt" Faykus, 83, of Cambridge, died Friday (July 16, 2021) at Countryview Assisted Living Center, Lore City.
He was born April 21, 1938 in Summerlee WV, son of the late Raymond Faykus and Sophia (Ferrence) Faykus.
Mr. Faykus retired from Rex Buckeye, where he had worked as a furnace operator.
He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church and a life member of the Moose International.
Mr. Faykus was a US Marine Corps veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Edward Faykus.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy (Williams) Faykus, whom he married December 31, 1960; three sons, Tom (Sue) Faykus of Cleveland, Eric (Tina) Faykus of Parma, and Steve (Karen) Faykus of Middleburg Heights; a brother, Jerry Faykus of Florida; two sisters, Pat (Steve) Kopera of Michigan and Debbie Tenharmsel of Michigan; and seven grandchildren, Chris, Missy, Megan, Matthew, Andrew, Cole, and Kaylee.
Memorial visitation hours will be held Thursday (July 22, 2021) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a memorial service will begin at 3 p.m. Military honors will be conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
