Walter Louis Reicher Jr.

Walter Louis Reicher Jr., 52, of New Concord, passed away Thursday (Nov. 27, 2014) at his home. He was born Jan. 22, 1962, in Cambridge, son of the late Walter Louis and Barbara (Slasor) Reicher. Walter worked for the Ohio Department of Mental Health in Cambridge, where he worked as an activities therapist. Mr. Reicher was a 1981 graduate of Cambridge High School and a U.S. Army veteran, where he was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne. Walter was a big Ohio State University Buckeye football fan, he enjoyed his annual hog roast with family and friends, going to dirt track races with his buddies and loved to cook for his family and friends. He was a friend to everyone and would help anyone in need. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Tammy K. Slifko; and a brother, Johnny Reicher. Walter is survived by his wife, Rachel S. (Miskimen) Reicher, whom he married on May 6, 2006; a son, Anthony Michael Reicher of the home; a daughter, Caitlin Louise Reicher of the home; a stepdaughter, Misty Taylor of Cambridge; a granddaughter, Chloe Black; a brother, Robert (Penny) Reicher of Cambridge; two sisters, Kathy Bethel of San Diego and Karen(Kent) Doutt of Cambridge; and several nieces, and nephews. Calling hours will be Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be Tuesday (December 2, 2014) at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Northwood Cemetery with military rites being conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
