Walter "Carl" Swigart, 70, formerly of Winterset, passed away on Monday (May 6, 2019) at the home of his daughter, in Galloway.
He was born on March 1, 1949, in Canton, Ohio. He was the son of the late Walter and Mildred (Gray) Swigart.
He was a 1967 graduate of Perry High School, Massillon, Ohio.
Mr. Swigart was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Vietnam War from 1967-1971, as an aircraft maintenance specialist.
He had worked as a supervisor for the Ohio Department of Transportation.
He loved riding his Harley motorcycle and enjoyed raising hybrid wolf dogs.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sharon; a son-in-law, Moses Lee; and a brother-in-law, Elmer McGee.
He is survived by his two daughters, Jeanie Lee of Massillon and Jennifer Swigart of Galloway; a brother, Randal (Carolyn) Swigart of Terlton, OK; a sister, Kathryn McGee of DeBary, FL; seven grandchildren, Brianna, Joshua, Tyler, Caleb, Gabriel, Alexis, and Mia; and a great-grandchild, Braxton. He also leaves nephews, nieces and several cousins.
Visitation will be held Saturday (May 11, 2019) from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. A memorial burial service will be scheduled in Canton, at a later date.
