Walter Carlisle Taylor

September 1, 1925 — October 5, 2017

Walter Carlisle Taylor, 92, of Cambridge, died Thursday (October 5, 2017) at The Morrison House, Zanesville.
He was born September 1, 1925 in Lima, son of the late Walter Griffith Taylor and Corinne (Killian) Taylor.
Mr. Taylor retired from NCR where he had worked as an industrial engineer.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of Cambridge.
He enjoying fishing, riding motorcycles, and traveling all over the U.S. One of his favorite hobbies was pottery and he loved teaching pottery to others.
Mr. Taylor was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during WWII.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Taylor; and a sister, Lois McHenry.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila (Moorehead) Taylor, whom he married January 26, 1986; three daughters, Veda (& Jack) Kelley of Josephine AL, Kim (& Marty) Wessel of Cincinnati, and Jan Wilson of Cambridge; a brother, John Taylor of Houston TX; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Earl (& Holly) Moorehead of Virginia; two sisters-in-law, Terri (& Jim) Jackson of Cambridge and Alva (& Bill) Johnson of Horn Lake MS; his mother-in-law, Nadine Moorehead of Cambridge; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday (October 9, 2017) from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge.
A memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, Beatty Avenue, Cambridge on Saturday (October 14, 2017) at 2:00 pm.  Following the service, military honors will be performed by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Genesis HealthCare Foundation – Genesis Hospice, 1135 Maple Avenue, Zanesville OH 43701; or 2) The First Christian Church of Cambridge, 1127 Beatty Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725.
