Warren Edward Shepard, 85, of Cambridge, died Sunday (April 6, 2014) at his home.
He was born December 14, 1928 in Cambridge, son of the late Thomas L. Shepard and Hazel M. (Belkey) Shepard.
Mr. Shepard retired from the Cambridge Fire Department.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodcarving. He was an avid fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns. He enjoyed caring for his cat, Bob.
Mr. Shepard was a US Army veteran, having served during WWII and the Korean War. He also served as a M.P. at the Nuremburg war trials.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly (Powers) Shepard, who died March 21, 2003; five brothers, Robert, Paul M. "Cy", Ronald "Payne", Harold "Herk", and James Shepard; two sisters, Molly L. Goduto and Mary Gerber; and a half-brother, Thomas Shepard.
He is survived by two sons, Michael R. (& Columbia) Shepard of Cambridge and Kevin "Pat" (& Christina) Shepard of Yatesboro PA; a brother, John Shepard of Cambridge; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Jamie, Lindsay, Elizabeth, Jarrod, and Jade; two great-grandchildren, Miranda and Dylan; two great-great-grandchildren, Teegan and Mastin; a sister-in-law, Marcella Shepard; and an "adopted" son, Brian M. (& Darlene) Knott of Carrollton.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Thursday (April 10, 2014) at 11 a.m. with Jim Gibson officiating.
Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
