Wayne W. Lucas, 88, of Cambridge, died Thursday (November 8, 2018) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born September 27, 1930 in Cambridge, son of the late Herman Lucas Sr. and Florence E. (Wagstaff) Lucas. A Cambridge High School graduate, Mr. Lucas retired in 1977 after twenty-five years with the City of Cambridge Police Department, where he had served as Police Chief for many years. He also retired in 2011 from the Cambridge Municipal Court after thirty years of service. He was a member of the Ohio Fraternal Order of the Police and a member of the National Organization of Chief of Police. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Cambridge, a member of the Masonic Lodge # 66 F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Lucas was also a member of the Elks Lodge # 448. Mr. Lucas was a US Navy veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Norma M. (Champlin) Lucas, who died March 7, 2015. They were married June 13, 1952. Also deceased are four brothers, Jess Lucas, Sherman Lucas, Walter Lucas, and Herman Lucas; and two sisters, Kathleen Smith and Joan Poole. He is survived by a son, Darren (& Lynda) Lucas of Gahanna; two daughters, Vicki (& Rick) Foraker of Cambridge and Brenda Gibson of Cambridge; two grandsons, Travis Foraker and Fritz (& Amanda) Foraker; five granddaughters, Abbey Lucas, Kelsey Lucas, Briana (& Paul) Vineyard, Sarah Gibson, and Katie Gibson; and four great-grandchildren, Lilly Mae Vineyard, Isaac Lucas Vineyard, Maia Madora Vineyard, and Evie Marie Foraker Private services were held for the family. Burial followed at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
