Dr. Wayne Logan Thatcher, 84, of Cambridge, died Thursday (March 20, 2008) at the home of his daughter in Wheaton, Illinois. He was born on June 6, 1923 in Cambridge, son of the late Norval Thatcher and Ruth (Logan) Thatcher. Dr. Thatcher received his B.S. at Muskingum College and later earned his Doctorate degree at the Chicago School of Medicine. He was an intern at Doctor's Hospital of Chicago. He then started his first medical practice with Dr. Robert Orme in Groveport OH. Dr. Thatcher was a retired osteopathic physician, who held his own private practice for many years and also worked at the former Cambridge State Hospital. He was assistant county coroner for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia M. (McKirchy) Thatcher, who died on September 19, 2006; a son, Todd Logan Thatcher; and a brother, Walton Thatcher. He leaves three daughters, Lori (& Randy) Vogel of Phoenix AZ, Shawn (& Gregory) Boyd of Newark and Amy Secrest of Wheaton IL; ten grandchildren; a great-grandchild; a niece and two nephews. Family and friends may call on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge. Graveside services will be held on Thursday (March 27, 2008) at 11 a.m. at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
