Wilda H. Bennington

Wilda H. "Granny" Bennington, 95, of Lore City, died Sunday (August 16, 2015) at her home. She was born April 15, 1920 in Powhatan Point, daughter of the late Forest Howell and Mary E. (Kinney) Howell. Mrs. Bennington worked as a cook at the Youth Camp for twenty-four years. She also prepared the food at the First Church of the Nazarene for many years. She was a lifetime member of the First Church of the Nazarene. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles A. Bennington, who died May 30, 1992; five brothers; a sister; a son-in-law; and three grandsons. She is survived by two sons, Charles (& Valerie) Bennington of Scottsville KY and Dale (& Madelyn) Bennington of Mt. Pleasant NC; three daughters, Marjorie Morris of Quaker City, Betty Jean Carpenter of Cambridge, and Cheryl (& Ralph) Sells of Lore City; seventeen grandchildren; forty-two great-grandchildren; twenty-four great-great-grandchildren; and all of her church family who lovingly called her "Granny". Visitation will be held Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Thursday (August 20, 2015) at 11 a.m. with Pastor Joe Pearce and Pastor Greg Kassler officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
