William E. Ebeling, 79, of Quaker City, passed away after a long battle with kidney disease on Tuesday (June 1, 2010) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge. He was born June 8, 1930 in Bellaire, son of the late John Ebeling and Nellie (Burcher) Ebeling. Mr. Ebeling retired from Alltel Telephone Company, where he had been an engineer for many years. He enjoyed traveling, reading and gardening. He was also a military history buff. Mr. Ebeling was a US Navy veteran. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Sue Lucas; a brother; and three sisters. He is survived by his wife, Jean (Carpenter) Butler Ebeling of the home, whom he married December 8, 1988; a son, Michael (& Lisa) Ebeling of Somerton; three daughters, Lori (& Tom) Fogle of Somerton, Sherri Pryor of Bethesda and Teresa (& Steve) Smith of Parkersburg WV; a brother, James (& JoAnn) Ebeling of Merritt Island FL; two sisters, Kelley Proctor of West Palm Beach FL and Judy Wright of Melbourne FL; six grandchildren, Paul Ebeling, Lauren Ebeling, Katie Lucas, Calina Bolyard, Colin Lucas and Aubrey Sauers; four step-grandchildren, Raymond Burt, Tessa Burt, Sean Smith and Nicole Pryor; and seven great-grandchildren. No calling hours will be observed. A private memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday (June 5, 2010) at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Quaker City, with Rev. Tom Detling officiating. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made in William's name to a favorite charity of choice.
