William Oscar Ford

William O. Ford, 82, passed away Saturday September 21, 2024, at his home in Cambridge. He was born in Madison Township on November 29, 1941, to William B. and Florence (King) Ford.

Bill graduated from Madison High School in 1959, then joined the United States Marine Corps. He served two overseas tours in Okinawa and the far east, then came home and married Martha (Cramblett) Ford in August of 1963. He then joined the U.S. Army and spent three years in Germany along with his wife. After returning home he worked Champion Spark Plug for over thirty years. He also became a registered land surveyor in Ohio. During a five-year transfer to Iowa, he took his test and was also registered there.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 61 years, Martha, his son, James (Emily) Ford. Also surviving him are two brothers, Robert and Kenneth Ford, four sisters-in-law, Shirley Ford, Ruth Ford, Jeanette Wells and Sherry Cramblett, a daughter-in-law, Kimberly Ford, three grandchildren, seven great grandsons, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding him in death was his son, William Bruce Ford, his parents, his in-laws, Clarence and Alice Cramblett, his sister, Betty Jean Alloway, three brothers-in-law, Charles Cramblett, James E. Cramblett, and Richard Wells.

Bill was a member of Guernsey Masonic Lodge #66, the Marietta Gun Club, and a benefactor member of the NRA. He was Methodist by Faith.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2024, from 3-6PM at Thorn Black Funeral Home with Mason Services happening at 5:30 PM. Services will be held the following day, Thursday, September 26, 2024, at 11AM at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with hospice Chaplain Kris Bright officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Northwood Cemetery.
