William C. Godby Jr.

William C. Godby Jr., 66, of Salesville, died Friday (February 10, 2017) at his home. He was born August 30, 1950 in Zanesville, son of the late Bonnie Jean (Brown) Godby. Mr. Godby retired after thirty-six years as an independent owner/operator over-the-road truck driver. He was a US Army veteran, having served during the Vietnam War. He is survived by a daughter, Lori Ann (& Dave) Godby-Barlow of Salesville; two sisters, Cheryl (& John) Smith of New Concord and Carol Edwards of Zanesville; two grandsons, Ryan Godby and David Barlow; three great-grandchildren, Julian, Lillian, and Davey; his fiancée, Ruth Barlow of Cambridge; and a special friend, Mary Williams. Visitation will be held Monday (February 13, 2017) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge, with military graveside honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
