William P. "Billy" Jackson II, 52, of Delaware and formerly of Byesville, died Friday (February 11, 2011) at the Grady Memorial Hospital following lingering complications from two hip replacements. He was born September 14, 1958 in Cambridge, son of Linda (Lucas) Hardy and the late William P. Jackson. Mr. Jackson worked as a union laborer for much of his life, until he recently became disabled. He was a 1976 graduate of Meadowbrook High School, where he gained recognition as a football and track athlete. In recent years, he completed in marathons and triathlons. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his wife, Carla (McHenry) Jackson. He is survived by his mother and step-father, Linda and Paul Hardy of Cambridge; a brother, Scott (& Karen Ross) Jackson of Cambridge; a niece, Kari (& Josh) Fordyce of Byesville; a great-niece, Hailey Fordyce; and his constant beloved companion, Junior, a trained blue heeler dog. In accordance with Billy's wishes, a cremation will take place. The family will receive friends on Tuesday (February 15, 2011) from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. with Pastor Ken Blood officiating.
