William T. Mcclelland

July 16, 1922 — March 23, 2007

William T. McClelland, 84, formerly of Brick Church Road, Cambridge, died Friday (March 23, 2007) at the Beckett House at New Concord. He was born July 16, 1922 in Barnesville, son of the late Paul T. McClelland and Maybelle (Shepherd) McClelland. Mr. McClelland was a retired highway superintendent with the Guernsey County Highway Department. He also served as plant manager at Universal Pottery for several years. Mr. McClelland was the oldest active member of the Cambridge Elks Lodge #448. He enjoyed reading, traveling and playing cards. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, having served during World War II. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha (Addison) McClelland; his second wife, Mary (Skonce) McClelland; infant twins; a sister, Jean Ann Scott; and a brother, Michael McClelland. He leaves two sons, William Thomas McClelland Jr. and Paul D. McClelland both of Salesville; three sisters-in-law, Lauretta (& Rudolph) Bonnell of Old Washington, Dorothy Bates of Byesville and Maggie McClelland of Cambridge; five grandchildren, John Ansberry of Cambridge, Tara McClelland of Cambridge, Trisha McClelland of Columbus, Jack (& Lisa) McClelland of New Concord and Paul (& Amanda) McClelland of New Concord; six great-grandchildren; and his friends at the Beckett House & his "little friends" at the Friendship Pre-School. Family and friends may call on Tuesday (March 27, 2007) from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 12:30 p.m. Rev. Marty Radcliff will be officiating with Jack McClelland. Memorial contributions may be made to: Friendship Pre-School, 1390 Friendship Drive, New Concord OH 43762.
