William H. Moyer, 90, of Cambridge, died Thursday (September 24, 2009) at his home. He was born August 22, 1919 in Flemington WV, son of the late Fred Albert Moyer and Grace Ann (Trader) Moyer. Mr. Moyer worked at Phillips Products for many years in the Shipping & Receiving Department. Mr. Moyer was a U.S. Army veteran, having served during WWII. He was a member of the D-Day Invasion force and received seven Battle Stars for his service. He was a member of the DAV Chapter 28 and a life member of the VFW Post 2901. Mr. Moyer was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy and also attended the Good Shepherd 4-Square Gospel Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine Marie (Kettle) Moyer; three brothers; and two sisters. He leaves his wife, Eleanore M. (Moore) Moyer of the home, whom he married March 6, 1946; a daughter, Marcia Marlene (& Donald) Moyer Poole of Killeen TX; two brothers; five sisters; three grandchildren, Angela Gaye Welker Donley of Harrisville WV, Veronica Rae Welker of Zanesville and Donald William Poole of Killeen TX; two great-grandchildren, Sherrae Danielle Tate of Chesapeake VA and Divaun Jarrett "D.J." Welker of Zanesville; a great-great-grandchild, Jada M. Harris; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held on Wednesday (September 30, 2009) at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Todd Crouch officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
