William Nicholas

William "Nicky" Nicholas, 77, of Cambridge, died Tuesday (April 29, 2008) at Genesis-Good Samaritan Medical Center, Zanesville. He was born on August 14, 1930 in Warren, son of the late William Nicholas and Helen Oella (Peck) Nicholas. Mr. Nicholas was a self-employed accountant until his death. He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge. He was also a passionate golfer. Mr. Nicholas was a 1949 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, Warren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Lieby; and a brother, Raymond Nicholas. He leaves his wife, Lila (McLaughlin) Nicholas of the home, whom he married on November 28, 1992; three sons, William McKinley Nicholas of Phoenix AZ, Arnold (& Penny) Nicholas of Raleigh NC and Aaron Nicholas; a daughter, Tammy (& Mike) Weaver of Erie PA; two step-daughters, Gwen (& Bill) Wilson of Cambridge and Barb (& Kevin) McKinnon of New Concord; a brother, Earl (& June) Nicholas of Mississippi; a sister, Jenny Hoyt of Warren; thirteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces & nephews; and many close friends, including his dear friend David Thomas. Family and friends may call on Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Saturday (May 3, 2008) at 11 a.m. with Father Robert Borer officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge, with military graveside services conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council.
