William F. Nickell, 52, formerly of Cambridge and currently a resident of Strawberry Plains TN, died Monday (October 15, 2007) at The University of Tennessee Hospital in Knoxville TN. He was born on November 27, 1954 in Zanesville OH, son of the late Finley Nickell and Bertha (Anderson) Nickell. Mr. Nickell was a truck driver for Superior Steel. He was a member of Moose Lodge # 631 of Cambridge and also Eagles Aerie # 386 of Cambridge. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, collecting antiques, sports and reading. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Jason Daniel; a brother, Edgar; and three sisters, Betty Imogene Roberts, Mary Frances Hickman and Carolyn Sykes. He leaves two sons, William Scott (& Meredith) Jirles of Cambridge and Michael Paul Nickell of Cambridge; two step-sons, Eric Robert (& Kathy) Whitsell of Virginia and Sean Martin (& Robin) Whitsell of North Carolina; a brother, Lennel (& Becky) Nickell of Strawberry Plains TN; three sisters, Esther Marie (& James) LeCrone of Anchorage AK, Virginia (& Don) Wilson of Cambridge and Sharon Kay (& Richard) Ploughe of Raleigh NC; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Lauren; six step-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews & cousins. Family and friends may call on Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will be held on Saturday (October 20, 2007) at 11 a.m. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.
