William L. Strahl Sr.

William L. Strahl Sr., 94, of Kimbolton, died Friday (February 25, 2011) at Countryview Assisted Living Center. He was born October 28, 1916 in Bellaire, son of the late Joel Francis Lee Strahl and Beatrice (Cyples) Strahl. Mr. Strahl was a retired maintenance worker with the Consol Coal Co. He was a lifetime member of the United Mine Workers and a a member of North Salem Community Church. He enjoyed watching baseball and playing golf. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Lou Ann Robertson; four brothers and four sisters. He leaves his wife, Vernita (Baker) Strahl, whom he married April 25, 1978; a son, William Strahl of Holloway; two stepsons, Richard (Frances) Stocker of Kimbolton and Ed (Lisha) Stocker of Cambridge; two stepdaughters, Patricia Paterson and Susan (Jack) Melchiori, all of Kimbolton; a sister, Althea Marx of Reynoldsburg; 11 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, where the service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday (March 1, 2011) with Pastor John Sims officiating. Burial will be in North Salem Cemetery.
