Wilma "Jean" Danford

Wilma "Jean" Danford, 87, of Cambridge, died peacefully at her home, surrounded by her loved ones, on Tuesday (July 5, 2016) She was born May 18, 1929 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Guy Hessin and Bertha (McManaway) Hessin. Mrs. Danford was a graduate of Brown High School. She was deeply involved with her children and grandchildren and loved spending time with them all. Mrs. Danford's many activities included being a Girl Scout advisor and a 4-H advisor. An avid gardener, she was a member of the Grow & Show Garden Club and the Herb Guild of Guernsey County. She was also a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary # 7371 of Kipling and the Pleasant Valley Homemakers Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Danford Jr.; a son, Robert "Denny" Danford III; a granddaughter, Kiristi Singleton; four brothers, Marion, William, Charles, and Richard Hessin; and three sisters, Sarah Leinoff, Mary Hessin, and Betty Eileen Hessin. She is survived by five daughters, Debbie (& Dick) Singleton of Senecaville, Bobbie (& Harry) Hitchcock of Cambridge, Liz (& Gerry) Bamfield of Cambridge, Pamela (& Brian) Harper of Cambridge, and Mary (& Jeff) Caldwell of Cambridge; twelve grandchildren, Darren (& Angie) Singleton, Damon (& Kendra) Singleton, Kelly (& Zane) Zehnder, Devon Singleton, Amanda Hitchcock, Brian (& Samantha) Bamfield, Erica Stillion, Heather Daugherty; Andrew Caldwell, Aaron Caldwell, Austin Danford, and Malena Danford; twenty-one great-grandchildren, Darien, Dalton, Delaney, Dayne, and Davis Singleton, Sydney, Trey, and Jacob Singleton, Zeke Zehnder, Hadley Singleton, Ryan Hockenberry, Graceann Hitchcock, Olivia and Baylor Bamfield, Eddie, Brianne, and Haley Jirles, Jarret Stillion, Brendon, Kylie, and Kirstin Moorhead; two great-great-grandchildren, Aiden Keith and Braylen Jirles; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Hessin of Clinton, Evelyn Hessin of Cambridge, and Jane Hessin of Silver Lake; a brother-in-law, Donald (& Ellie) Danford of Cambridge; and many dearly loved nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be held Friday (July 8, 2016) from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to one of the following organizations: 1) Hospice of Guernsey Inc., PO Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725; or 2) The Kiristi Singleton Scholarship Fund, c/o 139 S 9th St, Cambridge OH 43725.
