Winifred I. Mehaffey, 88, of Cambridge, died Thursday (March 19, 2009) at the Cardinal House, Cambridge. She was born on August 18, 1920 in Cambridge, daughter of the late William Gaskill and Mary (Hamilton) Gaskill. She married Paul W. Mehaffey on August 12, 1947. Mrs. Mehaffey retired after a total of twenty years of service with the Clerk of Courts and also working with the Bureau of Support. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church of Cambridge and a member of the Alpha Omega Circle. Mrs. Mehaffey was a 1938 graduate of Brown High School. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, who died on March 2, 2002; and two brothers, Roy and Charles. She leaves a brother, William Gaskill of Mary Esther FL; two sisters, Jean Henry of Cambridge and Ellie (& John) Hymes of Cambridge; brothers-in-law & sisters-in law, Harriette Gaskill of Cambridge, Wayne & Phyllis Mehaffey of Cambridge, Lloyd & Mary Mehaffey of Cambridge and Dorothy Woodard of Marion; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may call on Monday (March 23, 2009) from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where services will follow at 1 p.m. with Rev. William Johnson officiating. Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to (1) 1st Presbyterian Church, 725 Steubenville Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725; or (2) Hospice of Guernsey Inc., P.O. Box 1165, Cambridge OH 43725.
