Zelda "Cookie" Elizabeth Casterline, 72, of Cambridge, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday (February 3, 2015). She was born March 20, 1942 in Cambridge, daughter of the late Charles "Red" Tingle and Alma K. (Peyton) Tingle. Cookie, a graduate of Ohio University, spent thirty-eight years as an elementary school teacher for the East Muskingum Local School District and as a special education teacher for the Golden Rule School. She was a member of the Guernsey Residential Board and worked for Special Olympics. She loved being with her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Gary David Casterline; and a brother, James Tingle. She is survived by her loving husband of fifty years, Vernon; three sons, Michael "Shawn" Casterline of Byesville, Kevin Casterline of Pataskala, and David Casterline of Cambridge; her cherished grandchildren, Jordan, Brent, and Sydney Casterline; a sister, Marsha Tingle; and a niece, Cathy Tingle of Fayetteville NC. Visitation will be held Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Saturday (February 7, 2015) at 11 a.m. with Rev. Keith Peachey officiating. Burial will be at Guernsey Memory Gardens, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Ohio Special Olympics for Guernsey County, 60770 Southgate Road, Byesville OH 43723-9731.
