Zona "Vangie" Bell

Zona “Vangie” (Heath) Bell, 86, of Cambridge, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 27, at 10:50 p.m.

Vangie was born March 6, 1940, in Steubenville, a daughter to the late Leroy and June (Davis) Heath. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, caring sister, compassionate friend, and enthusiastic grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was happiest at her home on Bell’s Hill. She loved working as a Home Health Aide, making glamor hats, hosting tea parties, and watching the birds. She was Miss Senior Ohio in 2004. She enjoyed spending time with her family, her friends, and especially her grandchildren. She was generous with her compassion and empathy and never met a stranger. She attended Abundant Blessings Church of Center.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 70 years, Merle Bell, her sister, Opal Donley, her brothers, Bud Heath and Andrew Heath, and her stepsister Nancy.

Vangie is survived by her daughters, Cathy (& Mark) Seeley of New Concord, Debbie (& Bruce) Evans of Columbus, Cynthia (& Jeff) Cowgill of Cambridge, her son, Jeff Bell of Washington DC; her brothers, Eddie (& Shirley) Heath of Warnick, Joe (& Dawn) Heath of St. Clairsville, and Robert (& Quynh) Palmer of St. Clairsville; her sisters, Norma (George) Donley of St. Clairsville, Linda Heath of St. Clairsville and Brenda Stoner of St. Clairsville; her grandchildren, Annette, Ted, Shawnee, Erica, Brianne, and Lorrin; and her 8 great- grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 2, 2026, from 11AM-1PM with the service to immediately follow at Thorn Black Funeral in Cambridge. Burial will be held at Center Cemetery.
