Some will walk through the pearly gates, some will ride." - Unknown Arthur James Gromoll, of Niagara Falls, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 70 years old. Born in Niagara Falls on December 6, 1953, Art was the son of the late William F. and Doris G. (Newman) Gromoll. Art attended Niagara Wheatfield Schools and graduated from Trott Vocational School in 1972. He went on to work as a car inspector at Conrail and later at CSX before his retirement. Art had a great love for riding and building motorcycles. You could often find him in his custom-built garage working on his latest project. If you didn't see him, though, you were sure enough to hear the signature roar of his bike from miles away, music to Art's ears. Art had many hobbies, including cooking, fishing, boating, hunting, building and refurnishing furniture, and spending time with his canine companion, Jack. He loved to travel, and spent time living in Gillette, Wyoming and Port Charlotte, Florida, before returning to his hometown of Niagara Falls. He enjoyed listening to and attending concerts, especially rock and blues. Above all else was Art's family. As the rock of the family, he was devoted to his children and grandchildren. His grandchildren lovingly called him 'grumpa,' 'papa,' and 'pa.' Art did everything to make sure they were safe and happy. He will be remembered for his resilient and determined spirit, one that his family would affectionately refer to as his stubbornness. He was a great friend and left an impression on everyone he met throughout his life. Art will be missed deeply by his children, Jessica Young (Timothy) of Westminster, Maryland, Jacob Gromoll (Dana) of Port Charlotte, Florida, Arminta 'Joey' Pierson (Justin), of North Port, Florida, and Ellen Gromoll (Kevin Farrell) of Niagara Falls, New York; his grandchildren, Zackary and Audrey Young, Chloe and Owen Pierson, and Charles and Lilah Farrell; his siblings, Elizabeth (Jim) Dolphin of Sarasota, Florida, William (Linda) Gromoll of Ransomville, New York, and Gerald (Cheryl) Gromoll, of Stockbridge, Georgia and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Art was predeceased by his brother, Paul Gromoll, his former wife Arminta (Mimi) Gromoll, and 'The Boys', his beloved dogs Frank and George. Private services will be held by the family at a later date. "And there's fire on the mountain, lightning in the air. Gold in them hills and it's waiting for me there." - The Marshall Tucker Band
