Beatrice E. Wheatley

Beatrice E. Wheatley, 94, of Old Washington, died Sunday (August 4, 2019) at her home.

She was born December 10, 1924 in Alva OK, daughter of the late Edward Lewis Kurth and Amolia (Henning) Kurth.

Mrs. Wheatley was a retired switchboard operator, having worked at General Telephone, RCA, and NCR.

She had served as Madame President of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary, State Mother of Ohio for the FOE, and a member of the Cambridge VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a member of the USO and enjoyed serving the troops, where she met her first husband, Robert.

She crocheted over two thousand baby caps with the Miriam Circle in the Lutheran Church for the SEORMC Childbirth Center.

She was an avid card player and "cheater". She loved camping, traveling, gardening, and tending to her flowers.

More than anything else, she cherished spending time with the family.

She was born and raised a Lutheran.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Cunningham; her second husband, Richard Wheatley; her significant other, Wilbur Blackstone; a son, Michael Cunningham; two brothers, Howard Kurth and Buster Kurth; and three sisters, Roberta, Margaret, and Eulalia.

She is survived by a son, Presley (& Nancy) Cunningham of Pleasant City; two daughters, Sally (& Jeff) Geer of Old Washington and Marsha Boyd of Cleveland; three sisters, Loretta, Geneva, and Ivalene all of Oklahoma; ten grandchildren, Heather, Caleb, Tracey, Adrienne, Nick, Heidi, Krissy, Kala, Bryan, and Jeramiah; and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Friday (August 9, 2019) from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will be held Saturday (August 10, 2019) at 2:30 p.m.

Burial will be at Northwood Cemetery, Cambridge.

A celebration of life will follow the burial at the Cambridge Eagles Aerie 386, 1930 E Wheeling Avenue, Cambridge OH 43725.
