Chris D. Hall

Chris D. Hall passed away on Monday, February 17, 2025, at his home with his family by his side. He was born May 31, 1960, in Barnesville, Ohio, a son to the late Joanne Meighan Hall Carpenter and Charlie Hall.

Chris was a 1979 graduate of Cambridge High School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He later became an official for basketball and loved to referee. He always thought teaching the kids while doing it was an important part of it. Once his son Christopher was old enough to play sports, he became his coach. If you were on his team, you probably always remember he expected you to give 150% at all times. Chris loved watching Ohio State Football. I don't think there was a more devoted Ohio State fan than Chris. Chris worked at Fabri Form for 17 years and at 40 years old he started his career with Shelly and Sands and retired after 20 years. His last job working at John Glenn High School topped them all. He loved the kids and was always giving them tips and pointers before a game no matter what sport. He came home with a new story every day.

Chris is survived by his wife, Diana (Ball) Hall, whom he married on January 16, 1982. They had two children, a daughter, Karie Hall McCauley (late Eric McCauley), and a son, Christopher (Andrea) Hall. He was so proud of his kids and the accomplishments they'd made. He was grateful to spend his last three years at Shelly and Sands with Christopher as his boss and spending the last three years working with Karie at John Glenn, attending all the games together. They each gave him a grandson, Carter McCauley and Paxton Hall, becoming his and Diana's entire world. They didn't miss a fair, cattle show, baseball game, basketball game, soccer game or golf match. The calendar on the fridge was filled in as much as it was when the kids were little. Showing up was the most important thing for Chris.

Chris is also survived by his siblings, Jeff (Pam) Hall, Mark (Debbie) Hall, and Beth Johnston, his sister-in-law, Trudy Hall, and his mother-in-law, Teddy (Nan) Ball.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son-in-law, Eric McCauley, and his siblings, Tim Hall and Lori Hall, and his father-in-law, Larry Ball.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, from 2-5PM with the service to immediately follow at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with Rev. Tina Siroki officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 500 S. 7th St, Cambridge, OH 43725.
