Dorothy M. Steele Heskett (Granny), 94, of Cambridge, passed away peacefully, Monday, May 23, 2022, at the Beckett House in New Concord.
She was born December 25, 1927, in Guernsey County, a daughter of the late Charles N. and Zelma B. (Stevens) Steele.
Dorothy retired from the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed watching Days of Our Lives, Jeopardy, and Cash Explosion. Dorothy loved to read books and in her earlier days she enjoyed playing bingo. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She had a heart of gold and would help anybody and everybody to the best she could. She was known to her family and friends as “Granny”.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond R. Heskett, her two daughters, Janie M. Heskett and Catherine (Kitty) Casey and her son-in-law, Russell E. Casey, her two sons, Jackie L. and Kevin D. Heskett, two grandsons and one great granddaughter, her two brothers, Lester and Samuel Steele, and her two sisters, Kay Steele and Phyllis Steele Hackley.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Christina (Tony) Hutchison of Zanesville, her daughter in law, Sharon Dodd of Cambridge, her three sons, Richard (Cindy) Heskett of Zanesville, Donald and Larry (Tammy) Heskett of Cambridge, a son in law, Frank Phillips of Cambridge, her twenty-six grandchildren, and several great and great-great grandchildren, her sister, Betty Steele Tyo of Zanesville, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, calling hours will be Friday, May 27, 2022, from 5-8 PM at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Family and Friends are welcome, but due to COVID- 19 please take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and everyone else’s should you decide to attend.
