Evelyn J. Ayers

Evelyn J. Ayers, 87, of Winterset, passed away on Friday, March 21, 2025, at Arbors at Woodsfield.

She was born June 18, 1937 in Freeport, daughter of the late James Roy Morrison and Bessie Bell (Bendure) Morrison.

A 1955 graduate of Freeport High School, Mrs. Ayers retired from Bell Nursing Home, where she had worked in the laundry department.  She had also worked at March Electric.

She was a member of the Winterset United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harry Hubert Dennis; her second husband, Charles Martin Ayers; two daughters, Carol Jean Rominger and Barbara Ellen Dennis; a brother, Ray Morrison and his wife, Joanne; and a great-granddaughter.

She is survived by a son, Harry (Jade) Dennis of Seymore TN; a daughter, Ruth (Carlos) Nalley of Woodsfield; ten grandchildren, Evelyn (J), Eric, Harry Jr., Justin, Amber, Heather, Brittany, Kevin (Winnie), Jimmy, and Brandan; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild on the way.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 27, 2025, from 11AM-1PM at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge with the service to immediately follow. Burial will be at Glenview Cemetery, near Winterset.
