Hattie Melvena Lyons, 95, of Old Washington, passed away on Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at Park Health Center in Saint Clairsville.
She was born September 25, 1928, in Cambridge, daughter of the late Arch Jones and Alice (Douglass) Jones.
A 1946 graduate of Madison High School, Mrs. Lyons was a homemaker. She enjoyed working word puzzles, reading and attending high school basketball games.
Mrs. Lyons was a member of the Antrim United Methodist Church for over sixty years. She was also a member of the Guernsey County Senior Citizens Center.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leo Lyons, who died January 12, 1994, a son, Gary Lyons, and a brother, Gene Jones.
She is survived by her loving family which includes four sons, David (& Cindy) Lyons of Salesville, Ed (& Susan) Lyons of Cambridge, John (& Melody) Lyons of Dover, and James Lyons of St. Clairsville; two daughters, Nancy (& Eric) Householder of Lore City and Kathyrn (& Scott) Stephens of St. Clairsville; one daughter-in-law, Debbie Lyons of Cambridge; nineteen grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; one great-great grandson; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2023, at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Cambridge, from 4-7 PM. Funeral services will be held the following day, Monday, October 30, 2023, at 11 AM with Pastor Clayton Coffey and Pastor Devanie Roe assisting. Burial will follow at Antrim Community Cemetery.
