John F Cowgill

John F. Cowgill, 93, of Cambridge, OH passed away on Thursday October 10, 2024 at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.

He was born February 17, 1931 in Cumberland, Ohio , the oldest son of the late Herbert and Martha (Hickle) Cowgill.

John was a 1949 graduate of Cumberland Spencer High School. He joined the US Navy in 1950 and proudly served his country for four years on the USS Parle during the Korean Conflict. After an honorable discharge, he worked various places but primarily at Enos Meat Market and then at Cambridge State Hospital as a stationary engineer in the heating plant from where he retired.

John was a lifelong member of Harmony Christian Church.

John is survived by his wife, Alice Hines Cowgill, three daughters, Carla (David) Allgeier of Noblesville, IN, Nancy Whaley of Mantua, Ohio, Ronda (Paul) Facemire of Elizabeth, WV and a son Dustin (Peggy) Cowgill of Byesville, Ohio. Nine grandchildren, Eight great grandchildren, his ex-wife, Vida Cowgill, a brother, Herbert "Joe" (Donna) Cowgill of Zanesville and multiple nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his four sisters and a brother.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held at Harmony Christian Church 7024 Clay Pike Road, Cambridge, OH 43725 at a later date.
