Joseph A. Leonard, 46, of Cambridge, died Monday (December 13, 2021) at Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge.
He was born December 11, 1975 in Cambridge, son of Jeffrey B. Leonard and Brenda (Cox) Leonard-Owens.
Mr. Leonard worked at Thompson Electric as a foreman. He was a member of the IBEW Local # 71 of Columbus for many years.
He enjoyed driving his tractor, farming, and going shooting with his sons. He dearly loved his grandson.
He was a member of the East Union Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Leonard was a US Army veteran, having served in the 101st Airborne Division.
He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul & Joyce Cox and Donald & Susan Johnson; and a stepbrother, Larry Copley.
He is survived by his wife, Rachelle (McFarland) Leonard, whom he married August 18, 2018; his father, Jeffrey B. (Debbie) Leonard of Cambridge; his mother, Brenda (Bob) Leonard-Owens of Little Rock AR; two sons, Justin Leonard of Cambridge and Tyler (Cassidy) Dingus of Canton; two daughters, BreAnn (Dylan) Shelhart of Cambridge and Lisa K. Leonard of Delaware; two sisters, Olivia (Aaron) Hook of Oklahoma City OK and Cassandra (Marland) Whaley of Cambridge; a stepbrother, James (Joni) Burley of Cambridge; a grandson, James Dingus; and his mother-in-law, Rhonda (Doug) DeLong of Cambridge.
Visitation will be held Thursday (December 23, 2021) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Thorn-Black Funeral Home, Cambridge, where funeral services will follow at 8 p.m. with Rev. Larry Jack officiating. Friends and family are welcome, but due to COVID-19 please take all necessary precautions to ensure your safety and everyone else’s should you decide to attend.
Military honors conducted by the Guernsey County Veterans Council will be held at the funeral home.
