Larry Johnson Obituary

Larry L. Johnson, 80, of Salesville, Ohio, passed away on May 29, 2023. Born April 1, 1943, in Barnesville, Ohio, to Roy and Faye (Carter) Johnson. He was loved by everyone who knew him.

Larry was a member of the Old Washington United Methodist Church and served as a Sunday School teacher for many years. He was a proud Vietnam Veteran who served in the United States Army. Larry was a member of the local VFW and American Legion. He worked at NCR early in his career and later retired from Federal Mogul. Larry was a lifelong farmer raising pigs and beef cattle. He took care of his farm until the last few months of his life. In his later years, he enjoyed supporting local 4-H children at the county fair, spending time with friends, family, and especially his wife Nancy, before she passed away in 2021.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Faye Johnson, his brother, Kenny Johnson, and his loving wife of 50 years, Nancy, whom he married in 1970.  

Larry leaves behind a daughter, Christy Johnson of Canton, a son, Kevin (Ronda) Johnson of Worthington, two grandsons, Kaden and Levi Johnson, a brother Randall (Gwen) Johnson of Conway, SC, a sister, Linda (Richard) Cox of Salesville, sisters-in-law Arletta Johnson of Salesville, and Evelyn (Steve) Entler of Columbus, and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 10:00-11:00AM on Friday, June 2, 2023, at Thorn-Black Funeral Home in Quaker City, with the funeral to follow at 11:00AM. Burial will follow at Friends Cemetery in Quaker City. After the burial, a luncheon for family and friends will occur at Old Washington United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Old Washington United Methodist Church in Larry’s honor.

The family would like to thank Cardinal Place Assisted Living in Cambridge and Traditions Health Hospice for taking such care of our dad during the last several months of his life.
