Marjorie Butler Obituary

Marjorie (Hall) Butler, 96, of Quaker City, passed away Monday, November 7, 2022, at the Walton Home in Barnesville.

She was born March 20, 1926, in Spencer Station, Ohio, a daughter to the late Perley and Grace (Forsythe) Hall.

Marjorie was a 1944 graduate of Quaker City High School, and worked at the Shenandoah Truck Stop, and was the owner of Halls Drive In, in Barnesville, and retired from the Barnesville Halls IGA. She was a member of both the Quaker City Senior Citizens and the United Methodist Women. She enjoyed cooking, quilting, entertaining family and friends at the Quaker City folk Festival, and spending time with grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Butler, whom she married on August 30, 1947, and passed away on May 25, 2015, her two brothers,  Robert and Charles Hall, her sister, Verlie Phillips, and two sons, Clifford and Bruce Butler.

Marjorie is survived by her son, Richard (Barbara) Butler of Quaker City, two daughters-in-law, Paula Butler of Barnesville, and Debra Butler of Barnesville, one sister-in-law, Jeanette Hall of Barnesville, her grandchildren, Kimberly (Russ) Young, Steven (Emily) Butler, Brooke (Chris) Wells, Eric Butler and Nathaniel Butler, Staci (Carl) Graham, and Britney (Dustin Kelly) Giesey. Also left to cherish her memory are her great grandchildren, Kelli Wright, Brayden Kehr, Kaylee Graham, Kaitlyn and Ava Young, Hayden and Matilda Butler, Grayce Wells, Briana Giesey, Janetta Wells and Jacob Wells, and seven great-great grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held Friday, November 11, 2022, at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Quaker City from 5-8 PM. Additional calling hours will be held from 10-11 AM on November 12, 2022, with the service to immediately follow at Thorn Black Funeral Home in Quaker City with Pastor Jeff Eschbaugh officiating. Burial will be held at Friends Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any memorial contributions be made to the Walton Home, 1254 E Main St., Barnesville, Ohio, 43713 and Hospice of Guernsey.
